¿Cuál es tu tradición cultural favorita? Sep 16 Written By Angel Chang Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15 - 10/15)! We asked our Izzi Early Education staff what their favorite cultural traditions. Mayra Ruiz Soto,Home Based Specialist Coast One of my favorite traditions/ celebrations is Día de los Muertos. It's special to me because it allows us to remember and honor our loved ones who have passed away, keeping their memory alive within us…I hope to pass this tradition down to my children, and for them to continue sharing it with their children. I believe it’s a meaningful way to teach them about embracing their culture and remembering those who came before us. Carla Overbey,Family Services Specialist Festivals, vendors, Latin American food, parades, talent shows, art shows and car shows. I have taken these myself at different spots or food I made myself. Yamilette Canas, Lead Teacher La representacion de nuestro pais por medio de la Danza folklorica alusivas a nuestra cultura hispana!! (Photo of Yamilette’s cousin in Nicaragua) Alejandra Castro Chavez, Family Services Specialist Every year, we celebrate our town's saint (San Mateo apostle on September 21), on his birthday. Our town in Mexico does a huge celebration for him, and we do a rosary a week before his special day. The whole town gets together and makes food for everyone. They have rides for the kids and music. It is a lot of fun!!!! :) Angel Chang
