Team Izzi Shows Up at Head Start Conference
This year’s Head Start California Annual Conference took place in our Bay Area home at The Westin San Francisco Airport in Millbrae. The conference is designed to empower our Head Start teachers and staff with the essential tools and strategies needed to not only survive but thrive in the face of challenges. This year’s theme, “Make Your Mark” encouraged each participant to leave a lasting, positive impact on the communities they serve. Hear the reflections from our Izzi staff who went to this event!
The conference was amazing. Throughout the three days, I learned a lot about each of them. I learned essential tools and strategies to thrive in the face of challenges, as each session was designed to inspire us and give us the confidence along with the knowledge needed to get better at the work of education. There is a phrase that Jerry Tello said that I really liked. If you do everything with joy, then everything will grow. Thanks Izzi. The conference was amazing. I enjoyed the Science of Reading session and learning about the different strategies teachers are using to get children to start reading at a younger age. I was also able to get these awesome bilingual books from Habbi Habbi, a multiple language teaching platform. Lastly, check out my cool art on my Head Start swag bag!

Leaving your mark of love, joy, and blessings. I enjoyed listening to the keynote speaker Terry Tello. Talking about his background and relating to it. I was able to buy some of his books that he wrote and enjoy that they are bilingual.

It takes a lot of effort and planning to host a conference. I can appreciate the work that goes into creating a space for our Head Start teachers and staff to connect. To equip them with the tools and resources for them to continue doing the best work for our community is so important! But then there’s also the struggle of our educators finding the time outside their already busy schedules to show up. Thank you Head Start California for hosting this very important space!
